Tourist Attractions in Thakua-thung District:

Suwan Khuha Temple: This temple is located in Moo 2 of Tambon Kasom. Starting from Phang-nga Town, go 7 kms. down the Phang-nga-Khoke Kloy road (Route 4). At Km. 31, an asphalt road turns off to the right. The temple is about I km. down this road.

Local people call this temple " Wat Tham " which means" Cave Temple ", It is in a limestone mountain, full of caves large and small. Each cave in the temple has a mane: Tham Yai or Big Cave; ThamJaeng or Bright Cave; Tham Mued or Dark Cave; and Tham Kaew or Crystal Cave. Tham Yai is the first cave encountered at the foot of the mountain and serves as the entrance to temple. It is much bigger than other caves; 20 meters wide and 40 meters long. The floor is flat and the ceiling a curving dome overhead. The cave's length is decorated in variously sized tiles of Lai Khram (porcelain or china with designs in indigo blue) and Benjarong (Thai porcelain). Inside Tham Yai, which is used as a Vihara temple, are stucco figures of Buddha. The most important one is a beautiful 1-5 meter long Reclining Buddha.

Rahman Waterfall: This waterfall is 7 kms. down the same road as Suwan Khuha Temple. It is a medium-sized, year round waterfall surrounded by green forest. Tha-noon Beach: From Route 4, take the road leading to Phuket (Route 402) until you reach.


Tourist Attractions in Thap-put District:

Tao Thong Waterfall: This waterfall is about 9 kms. away from Thap-put District Administrative Office. Take the same road that leads to Sra Nang Manorah Park until you reach Moo 3, Tambon Bor Saen. Turn on to the gravel road and go another 11 kms. to the waterfall.

Rat Uppathum Temple: This temple is located in Tambon Baang Riang, 11 kms. away on Petchakasem Road. This place is noted for its cool, shady environment, the temple has many important Buddhist artifacts, including the Phra Mahathat Chedi Buddha Dhram Banlue on the top of Laan Mountain, shaped like a bell. A statue of Kuan Im, a Chinese deity in Buddhism is inside.


Tourist Attractions in Thai-muang District:

Khao Lamphi-Thai-muang Beach National Park: This national park covers a total area of 45,000 rai. It was declared a national park on April 14, 1986. Tourist attractions in this national park are:

- Lamphi Waterfall: This waterfall is located in Moo 6, Tambon Thaimuang on Petchakasem Road for about 1.5 kms. to the waterfall, which is a medium-sized waterfall divide into three levels, each level about 100 meters high, flowing all year round.

- Tone Phrai Waterfall : At Km. 28-29 is a gravel road on your left. Follow that road for 7 kms. then continue on foot for another kilo meter. Tone Phrai is a large waterfall flowing all year round, but the best time of the year to visit this waterfall is during the dry season.

- Thai-muang Beach: This stretch of sand, 13 kms. long, with beautiful, clear water and Phang - N ga's first golf course nearby, is in Sukkhaphiban Thai-muang. Driving down an asphalt road for about 500 metres and further 5 kms. on the road next to the beach will bring you to the entrance to this beach. The beach is clean and the swimming is excellent. During November-February of each year, sea turtles come to this beach to lay eggs. It has become a tradition of the local people to go view the turtles on moonlit nights.

Conservation center of the Princess Chulabhorn Undersea Park Project: located in the naval base in Thap Lamu, this center was created to spread knowledge of the undersea environment and its resources. The two-story building has rooms displaying the work of the Chulabhorn Research Institute's royal chairman, a meeting room, a dining room, a performance pavilion, and an exhibition hall. The exhibition hall is divided into two parts. The first part has four rooms detailing the Chulabhorn Projects origins, the importance of undersea resources and environment new ideas in undersea eco-tourism and an exhibit of artworks fecusing on undersea world .themes. The featured exhibition in the second part of the exhibition hall is "Progress in Tourism Through Circulation of Information and Knowledge" (Tel. 0-7659-5041-2 ext 1170, Tel.!Fax 0-7644-3299)

The Royal Navy's Third Fleet Sea Turtle Nursery: Also located in the naval base in Thap Lamu, this nursery provides a place where baby turtles from areas on the Andaman seaboard are nurse until strong enought to survive on their own. It is the country's most important such nursery on the Andaman coast.

Baan Bor Daan Hot Spring: Travelling from Phuket, go north through the Khoke Kloy intersection. At km 6, turn on the road next to Baan Bor Daan School. Go down that road for about 3 kms. The water at this hot spring consists of sodium, calcium, iodine, chloride and many other minerals that relief arthritis, beriberi, mental and physical stress, and even makes skin and hair healthier. Open for bathing daily inexpensive admission. There is also accommodation and a spa.
